Victorian Valentine Love Heart 1898 Solid Silver Pill Jewellery Earring Box

  
Victorian solid silver valentine love heart pill or jewellery box. Stamped with the full Birmingham hallmark for 1898 and the makers mark for Henry Matthews of Vittoria Street, Birmingham. Right in the centre of the famous jewellery quarter. Lovely planished (hand beaten) pattern to the body with a rope design around the top of the lid and a blank cartouche to the centre.

The inside is gilded and in excellent condition. Stands 15/16 inch 2.4 cm tall, 1 3/8 inches 3.5 cm wide and 1 9/16 inches 4 cm long. The silver weight is 20.4 grams.

Excellent condition, no damage or repairs just surface marks, mainly to the base, from age and use as you'd expect. The hinge is in good working order and the lid fit nicely.
