An astounding Victorian gadget cane. I have seen whistle gadget canes and very few match safe gadget canes, but certainly never the two combined.
The lid to the match safe reads W. The lid opens easily and snaps shut securely. When opened it reveals a match striker, match safe, and a small location to extinguish your cigar. The cane then features, a VERY loud, calling whistle for taxis. The cane is very clearly hallmarked multiple times with the hallmarks for London, date mark for 1883, English sterling hallmark, and the makers mark for Jane Brownette & Alexander Jones. Other examples of Brownett and Jones work are in a whimsical style.
The cane measures approximately 34 inches long. The wood does seem to have suffered some damage from the years and the cane top has various dings. S&H will be 15 dollars.
