Description: Sterling silver combination sovereign holder & vesta case, with acanthus decoration and a vacant cartouche. Made by Thomas Hayes, and assayed in Birmingham, 1900. ·925 Sterling Silver [lion passant]. Measurements: 73mm long (82mm long inc suspension ring) by 32mm wide by 19mm thick. Original bright gilding to the vesta interior, but evidence the sovereign lid was also once gilded, has now worn.
