Rare Portuguese Solid Silver Sweetheart Box - Enamelled, c. This is an incredibly rare piece of Portuguese silver, featuring the Portuguese flag and the iconic, highly collectable Portuguese rooster. This hand-made, solid silver box is truly unique, with the interior gold-plated for added elegance. The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning-please zoom in on the photos to fully appreciate the intricate detail. This box has been in my family for many years, and to my knowledge, it dates back to the early 1800s. It's in very good used condition, though there are a couple of worn spots on the enamel of the rooster, as expected with its age. The box has a couple of small hallmarks, one resembling a Chester mark and the other possibly an angel's head, but they are quite faint and hard to identify. The box weighs 18 grams, but it's the intricate workmanship that makes this piece truly exceptional.
