Victorian, Solid Silver Mug London 1861 by Robert Harper

  

This lovely, Victorian, solid silver mug is of slightly, tapering form; having an S scroll handle with acanthus leaf thumb-rest; bead decoration to both the rim and around the base; and swags of floral & foliate decoration surrounding a blank cartouche, to the body. Apart from a very slight, misshaping around the rim of the base of the mug and the usual fine, surface marks and scratching (not unsightly and all commensurate with age and use) it is in excellent condition for 158 years old and is without a monogram, crest or inscription. 7.6 cm high to the top of the rim, 8.5 cm high to the top of the thumb-rest on the handle, 5.6 cm across the top of the mug, 6 cm across the base, has a capacity of 150 ml and weighs 94.5 grams.

It is fully hallmarked with: the head of Queen Victoria as duty stamp, the date letter for 1861, the leopards head for the London assay office, the lion passant for English 925 silver and the makers mark for.
