VICTORIAN PAIR OF SOLID SILVER PEPPERS / PEPPERETTES. A really lovely pair of Victorian sterling silver peppers. Both fully hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for London, and the date letter'N' on one for 1888, and the date letter'O' on the other for 1889.
Both in very good condition with clear hallmarks and the maker's initials JB. The pair together weigh just under 53g.
They are housed in their original dark tan and gold box, which is beautifully lined in purple silk and velvet. There's a bit of wear to the outer case of the box, but generally it is in good condition considering it is now about 135 years old. I also have a pair of novelty silver salt and pepper cellars in the form of rabbits / hares - please see my other items.
