Sterling Silver Nutmeg Grater by Hilliard & Thomason - Antique Victorian. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver nutmeg grater has been modelled in the form of a nutmeg. The exterior surface of the box and cover are embellished with bands of alternating plain and chased scrolling leaf decoration. The cover and base of the nutmeg grater each incorporate a plain thumbpiece.

The hinged cover opens to allow access to the silver mounted steel grating grille. This antique nutmeg grater is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. There is a very minor pin point blemish to the surface of the cover, which can be seen under certain lights; this does not detract from the aesthetic appearance of each item.

The chased decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the sleeve and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.
