Fabulous Pair Of Large Victorian Fish Servers Wirth HM Solid Sterling Silver Collars & end cap finials. With Large Original Wooden Fitted Case. By John Batt Cambridge St Sheffield. Empty Cartouche, No Engravings (on box). Combined weight of Fish Servers : 400 Grams. Combined weight Fish servers & case : 990 Grams. A superb large cased Victorian 1885 Fish serving set, consisting of beautifully fine engraved matched Knife and fork with heavy hallmarked solid sterling silver collars and hallmarked heavy solid silver end cap finials, knife pallet / blade & fork are heavy silver plated. Both handles are substantial and well balanced made from antler horn. Very unusual to find such a magnificent pair of fish servers such as these and especially with hallmarked solid silver collars and end cap finials, which are quite magnificent in style and size. Made by John Batt who was well known and highly respected for quality & heavy silver plating, plus a very accomplished silversmith. That made and fitted these top quality solid silver end cap finials and collars.

Both pieces are in excellent condition, without any damage, they are in remarkable condition especially considering they are 139 years old, they show very little signs of use. The original polished wooden fitted case is rather spectacular also, it has a blank brass cartouche to the lid, deep blue plush velvet fitted interior with a ruffled green satin lining to the lid. A new green baize has been fitted to the base of the case.

Condition is excellent, No dents or dints, a few very light marks to the pallet knife, very light and nothing whatsoever that detracts from the beauty. Antler Horn handles are very firm, no damage or color loss, solid silver work is beautiful without any dents or dints, no splits or old repairs, really is in fabulous condition. Fitted Case is also wonderful, no issues at all. Apologies for the reflections, photos were taken in. A conservatory, hence the reflections of the sky and glass roof.
