A super quality Victorian solid sterling silver sovereign coin case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1901 with the makers marks being AW for Alfred Wigley.
It has been superbly designed having a planished outer case with a sprung compartment which can be depressed allowing coins to be inserted. It has been engraved with entwined initials. It is in perfect condition being free from dings splits and repairs, slight depression to the rear but nothing of note. The springs that hold the coins are strong. It measures 1.25 inches (3.3cms) across excluding the loop by over 0.5 inch (1.5cms) wide and weighs 18 grams.
