Here for your consideration is a very rare, 1898, sterling silver and gilt travelling clay pipe case, with a hinged opening to reveal a silver gilt interior, fully hallmarked. The workmanship in this rare travelling clay pipe case is absolutely exquisite, complete with the original chainring. It's a truly stunning piece of workmanship, impressed at the front TCM and fully hallmarked, E. W for Edwin Henry Watts, the leopards head for London and lion passant with the date letter C for 1898.

Considering this silver pipe case is 117 years old it's in fantastic original condition, with no splits, dents or repairs to the body. It does have some beautiful age related patina wear, commensurate with age, but considering this pipe case has been floating around for 117 years and been through a couple of World Wars, nothing unusual. A very nice rare Victorian silver clay pipe case.
