RARE 1843 VICTORIAN BACCHUS, GOD OF WINE, STERLING SILVER MADEIRA DECANTER LABEL. A really superb Victorian Solid Silver Madeira Decanter Label, it has full clear hallmarks with the anchor for Birmingham, the date letter'U' for 1843, the Lion Passant for sterling silver, Queen Victoria's head, and the maker's mark'T&P' for Taylor and Perry.
The label depicts Bacchus, the god of wine and pleasure, surrounded by embossed decoration, including bunches of grapes, wine leaves and scrolls, a highly decorative label. It is in very good condition with no damage, just a little wear commensurate with the age of the label, which is now an amazing 179 years old. A fabulous, affordable early Victorian piece of silver that will be very carefully packaged and sent tracked and signed.
