This is a quality set of 6, Victorian, heavy gauge, solid silver table or dinner forks in the Fiddle & Thread design. They are without a monogram, although there is a crest to the handles of a putti or cherub, holding a cross and an orb in its hands. Except for the usual fine surface marks (which includes the usual knife marks) and scratching and some wear to the tip of some of the tines - all commensurate with age and use, they are in excellent condition for 150 years old; with no damage or repairs that I can see.

20.6 cm long, 1.7 cm across the tip of the tines, 2.7 cm across the base of the tines and have a combined weight of 548.3 grams / 17.630 troy oz. They are fully hallmarked to the back of the handles with: the lion passant for English 925 silver, the leopards head for the London assay office, the date letter for 1870, the head of Queen Victoria for duty stamp and the makers mark (although partially rubbed on 3 of the forks) is for the renowned, Victorian silversmith, George William Adams Chawner & Co.
