MISTLETOE Victorian SOLID Silver Chatelaine Coin Holder Pendant French Art Nouvo

  
Very pretty Mistletoe motif on both sides of this Victorian chatelaine coin holder. This is an antique piece dating to the turn of the century. Made of solid silver, it has a push button top that opens the lid to the slots inside. I have had a few chatelaine coin holders on offer over the years but they are usually silver plate so this one is a step above in fabrication and not commonly found with the solid silver case.

The spring loaded coin holders still function well. The piece measures about 3 inches in length to the top of the loop, by about 1 1/4 inches wide.

Punched for solid silver on the rounded area below the push button you can see the two little rectangles although they have worn some. Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition. The piece has several shallow impressions on both sides and about a dozen pinhead dings or nicks. So it has a somewhat rippled appearance in addition to ever so slightly caving in on the one side.

A few stubborn tarnish spots as seen in photos and a little discoloration on the inside. Could be cleaned up further but the patina makes the mistletoe designs really stand out.

The hinge is very tight, it opens and snaps closed snugly. The designs are nice and crisp. Please note that due to age this piece is not in mint condition.
