Fine Victorian Solid Sterling Silver Large Table Snuff Box Birmingham 1840

  

Description: A rare and stunning English Antique Victorian solid sterling silver large table snuff box, having a rectangular shaped body with applied embossed scrolls and floral decoration, fitted with a hinged lid with embossed decoration to the borders and a vacant cartouche to the centre. The underneath comes with engine turned decoration. The lid doesn't come with an hand engraved presentation inscriptions, initials, monograms or family crest marks. The interior of the box comes with a gold gilded lining to the lid and body. It's of stunning high quality and weighs an impressive 208 grams of solid sterling silver.

Would make an excellent fine addition to anyones collection. Makers, Assay office & Date Hallmark: Neustadt & Barnett (Registered 1840), Birmingham and 1840. Measurements: Length 9.3 cm, Width 6.6 cm, Height 3.3 cm and Depth 2.4 cm. Condition report: The exterior is in excellent condition with no dents, dings, holes, splits or repairs. The engine turned decoration to the underneath is mostly in excellent condition but does have some wear to the centre. The hinged lid works perfectly well and stays open as it should when open. The embossed decoration is in lovely clean condition with no wear or holes issues.

It's an excellent example from that period and is of 184 years of age. The interior is in excellent clean condition with no marks or wear issues.

The gold gild lining to the interior is in excellent condition. The English solid sterling silver hallmarks to the lid and body are in superb clean condition with no wear. It's a lovely clean original example. The lid may of had an engraving erased at sometime but has not caused any thinning.

It's a stunning example which is ready to be added to anyone collection. A stunning and fine quality example. All my items listed are well cleaned before listing.
