A very hefty, matched set of Victorian liquor labels with cut out titles for HOLLANDS (Dutch gin), WHISKEY, and BRANDY. Made by Charles Stuart Harris, a prolific fine maker of quality silver items, but a rare maker of decanter labels. The weight of these labels (about 24 grams each on a digital kitchen scale), and the quality of the labels confirms his reputation as a London silversmith. The condition of this set is excellent, and the hallmarks are clear and unaffected by the cutting of the title.
The chains have the older offset figure of eight links are heavy in good condition. Estimated total Troy ounces 2.38. Hallmarks date the label to 1894 to 1895. Letter T in a shield.Leopard's head in a shield, and lion. The HOLLANDS & the WHISKEY have an additional stamp which is indecipherable. Maker CS/H in a trefoil punch for Charles Stuart Harris.
Total Weight 74 grams; 2 and 5/8ths. Of an ounce on a digital kitchen scale. Width of each 5.0 cms. 1.50 inches (to top of hanging ears). Unmarked interlocked, offset figure of eight links to the chains.
