The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this i believe would have once belonged to a wealthy Gentleman or lady and been used daily to write there letters, they would have written letters using a quill pen , dipping it into this rare inkwell, this was in a time when letter writing was very important and sent daily, if this rare inkwell could talk i bet it would have some fascinating stories to tell, this is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. Please study the photos as this is an extremely rare Inkstand, it is hallmarked to the base, its in beautiful condition, it may have once had tiny screw in feet but that being said it doesnt detract at all from its rare beauty, just mentioned for accuracy, its so extremely rare you will not see or find another like this on the market.
