BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN 9CT GOLD ENGINE TURNED PROPELLING PENCIL. This is a Beautiful Victorian 9ct Gold Engine Turned Propelling Pencil, this would have been crafted circa 1880 making it 140 years old, this is just so very pretty, it has a wonderful elegant engine turned design to the body with contrast beautifully against the smooth finish to the top and also the smooth finish of the extenting pencil holder, this has a lovely gold loop allowing it to be hung either from a gentlemans watch chain or from a ladies chatelaine. To use you simply pull the pencil end out and then twist the body so the lead will appear and to close twist backwards for the lead to go back inside and push the tip back and the pencil becomes closed, The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a weathly gentleman or lady in the 19th century and been used daily, this was many years ago when times were so very different. This is so very tactile and once picked up have the most wonderful feel, it is a wonderful example of a fine quality, this will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. There are no hallmarks as is normal for this date, it has been tested.
6 cm length when closed including the loop... 7 cm length when open. Lovely, you can see a faint line down the body where it has been crafted together.
