BEAUTIFUL PAIR VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER & CRANBERRY GLASS OPEN SALTS. This is a beautiful pair of fine quality Victorian Solid Silver open pierced work and cranbeery glass open salts, this Beautiful pair of Ornate Open Salts are stunning, they are hallmarked to the side of the body George Angell & Co London 1865 making them 154 years old, these beautiful silver salts were very popular in the Victorian period, they have been crafted wonderfully, the detailing is stunning, teach open salt has a wonderful open pierced decoration to the curved body of scrolls and flowers in a bundance, this is framed at the top with a delicate beeded decoracoration, this all sits upon a lovely pedestal base which in turn has a smooth finish and matching beed work which contrasts beautifully with the wonderful open pierce work, both the salts still retain there original cranbberry glass liner which looks amazing when the light passes through the open pierced body creating a stunning effect, they are in lovely condition for there age with no cracks to the glass, one liner has been ground down a little as you can see and a little chip to the top edging on both, just mentioned for accuracy, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, these would have once belonged to a very wealthy family and would have sat on a large dining table and been daily by the diners if these open salts could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories they could tell, they are so very tactile and once held has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice.
