This is a Beautiful Heavy Victorian Brass Table Top Box with Hand Painted Flowers , This is a large size, i would estimate this box dates to circa 1850 making over 170 years old, to the top of the Box you will see the most beautiful fine quality hand painted Flowers, Roses, daisies, forget-me-nots and many more with so much detailing, they are surrounded by wonderful detailed gfoliage and this is finished with a sage painted background, this is set off against the rich colour of the brass border, the sides of this large Box have a wonderful cast laurel leaf Garland to the brass body, on turning this wonderful box over you will see it is foil back with bright reds painted over the foil to create such a stunning effect, this has then been finished with hand painted gold scrolls, on opening the pull off top which has a good seal when closed you will see the interior is a wonderful rich yellow copper colour, this is the patina from many years of wear, the foli back to the base would lead me to dating it earlier than 1850 as this was commaly used in the Georgian period, but as im unsure will say circa 1850, this really is beautiful. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, the painting to the top has a small amount of crackle which is another sign of the age it may be, apart from a tiny little loss to the edge its in origianl lovely condition.

This box is so very tactile and once held it has the most. This would have sat pride of place on a table and been used daily, many years ago. Will add something very special to any collection.
