An Antique Victorian sterling silver chatelaine. I believe that the image to the centre of the chatelaine clip is of a Geisha as you can clearly see that she is wearing a kimono and is holding a fan.
The hallmarks to the back show that the maker of this chatelaine was George Unite with the date letter being a small r for 1891. The date letter is somewhat unclear but if you turn it to the light and look through a magnifying glass it is clear enough. Each dog clip is impressed with a lion passant and you can also see a lion passant on the odd chain link although they are faint.
Very good with no damage and the chatelaine does not appear to be over polished as you can clearly see the features of the geisha. This chatelaine has recently been polished. Length of outside chains including the dog clip is 8.5cm. Length of middle chain including the dog clip is 10cm.The max length of this chatelaine measured in a straight line down the middle and including the longest chain and dog clip is 16cm. Max width of clip is 4.5cm. The item "Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Chatelaine Geisha Girl George Unite 1891" is in sale since Friday, November 12, 2021.
