Antique Late Victorian period circa 1900 Top Quality Double Picture Locket on Original Neck Chain in very good antique condition, fashioned in Solid Sterling Silver the Locket features as a large oval shape chased to both front and back with beautifully relief worked open gallery Ivy Leaves, The Locket opens via the side on hinged spine to reveal a spacious interior for storing a photograph or picture, this being a Union Locket having two picture frames for mounting, present within the locket are a duo of original early 20th Century photographs, can be removed and replaced as desired, the top of the locket is fitted with a static lug secured with a tapered Bale which is in turn secured with the hefty neck chain that is in a triple rung Ribbed Belcher link pattern spaced with ornate double layered star and lozenge pierced buckle links, the Neck chain terminates with a traditional Dog clip fastener which is secured to a large engraved four leaf cartouche featuring the the ribbed belcher link pattern in a duo of quintets finished with a central mounted spine studded with bright cut studs, this cartouche is mounted to a large jump ring to the bale of the locket. The Locket itself is without dings, splits, damage or repairs and opens and closes correctly for use as originally intended, The Locket excluding Bale measures 4 cm x 3.3 cm x 7 mm in dimension, the Belcher Neck Chain is similarly in fine antique condition, no damage or repairs, the neck chain measures 46 cm in length including dog clip terminal and has a chain width at the buckle details of 1.3 cm, the cartouche fitting to the jump ring measures 3 cm x 2.5 cm. The Dog clip terminal is impressed with the makers mark'CE & Fd Ld' indicating Constantine & Floyd Ltd of Caroline Street, Birmingham, Constantine & Floyd were noted for Producing Lockets and Chains during the period as well as Sovereign cases, Rings, Vesta and the like. A Fine Example of the period, in splendid condition, will make for a fantastic wearable antique piece of jewellery, and really rather unique.
