This is a lovely English sterling silver card case from 1870 measuring 3 1/2 inches x 2 1/3 inches wide x 1/4 inch deep. It is in excellent condition; there are the smallest of indentions on two corners on the bottom(barely noticeable) and a pin size mark on the top.
There are no marks on the front nor back of the case. There are no splits or other issues that would in any way distract from this 147 year old case. This case is rectangular in shape and has scalloped edges and ridged sides. On one side is two houses with smoke coming out of the chimney set in a window or picture frame design.
It has beautiful engraving around both sides. Below the frame of the house is the date of 1870.On the reverse side is a flower design with a shield design with the word "ANNIE'". It is the highest quality of workmanship I have seen.
The hinged lid closes tightly and probably was used very little. The item "ANTIQUE VICTORIAN DATED 1870 ENLISH SOLID SILVER CALLING CASE ENGRAVED ANNIE" is in sale since Monday, March 20, 2017. This item is in the category "Antiques\Silver\Sterling Silver (.
