Antique Victorian 925 Sterling Cupid Chatelaine Perfume Flask Match Safe Vesta

  

Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Cupid Chatelaine with Perfume Flask & Match Safe. Offering an antique pin style with "C" clasp chatelaine with chains for five attachments. It features Cupid perhaps ruefully posed with his bow behind his back, as if to say "I didn't intend to do that".

The front of the chatelaine is 3 1/2" x by 1 1/2 " and each chain drops 4 1/2. I could find no maker's mark, however it is stamped sterling on the back of Cupid's head. There are two attachments included with this piece and they are a crystal perfume flask and a vest case. The perfume flask has a sterling cap and is signed La Pierre with the initials JMN monogrammed on the top. It's 2 1/2" tall and about 3/4" in diameter.

The vesta case is hallmarked for Birmingham, the letter P (1864) with a maker's mark of WH for William Haseler. There is a monogram with the initials LF. The last two photos show the total weight, one with the silver alone (49.8 g) and the last with the perfume flask included (77.6 g).
