ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 18K GOLD DIAMOND & STAR SAPPHIRE MATCH SAFE / VESTA CASE c1891. An antique English, solid 18 carat gold match safe / vesta case; finely made, with applied ornate gold decoration to the front, set with a sparkling white old mine-cut diamond and a wonderful natural blue / grey star sapphire cabochon. With a sprung button hinged lid, blued steel spring and striker to the base.

Wow - a fabulous quality match safe... CONDITION : All original and very, very good.

Minimal signs of wear and pocket use, one or two shallow dents. DATE/MARKS : English hallmark for London 1891.

DIMENSIONS : 51 x 26 mm overall, diamond approx. 3.7 mm diameter, sapphire approx. 6.8 mm diameter (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
