Antique Seamstress Chatelaine Solid Silver Handle Scissors & Pouch Holder C1892

  
This is a lovely set for a seamstress chatelaine. Sadly, the scissors and pouch are married and not a match. The pouch shows the beautiful design lines of the Art Nouveau era. The pouch is fully hallmarked for Chester assay office sterling Silver, Hilliard & Thomason, 1898. The silver handle scissors have a Birmingham 1882 assay hallmark, made by renowned silversmiths Levi & Salaman.

It would appear the pouch was bought at a later date for the scissors. In very good antique condition with age associated wear commensurate with age. The pouch/holder has a small ding to the bottom right of one side (photo 9), luckily this is easily missed due to the detail of the design.

To the opposite side there is a small puncture hole, this is likely from polishing, obviously a much loved item. The hole is to the base of the top section of decoration (photo 1). The scissors are in very good working condition, with a slight twist at the handles from use. Again, a much loved and used item. The steel blades have an age related patina. I leave this as it adds character, however you could easily clean these up, should you desire. Scissors length 10.5cm (4.1/8).

Scissors width at handle: 4.7cm (1.7/8). Pouch Height: 7.3cm (2.7/8). Pouch width at chain: 2.9cm (1.1/8).

Chain drop: 19.3cm (7.5/8). Full drop including pouch: 26.7cm (10.1/2). I have given it a quick wipe over, but as with all my items I don't over clean or polish. There may be the odd age related wear/mark commensurate with age, anything of note is listed above.
