Antique 19th Century Victorian solid silver hot water kettle on stand, heavy and impressive, pear-form body chased with rustic scenes of peasants merry-making, in the style of the Dutch painter David Teniers. The lid mounted with a figural finial of a drunken peasants sitting on barrels. The kettle is clearly inspired by the tea services made by Edward Farrell in the early 19th century.

Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard), London, year 1879 (D), Maker's mark IF for John Figg, an important silversmith operating in the Victorian era, often producing high-quality pieces in the style of the Georgian silversmith Edward Farrell.
