A rare solid silver two-bottle inkstand with a central clock, by John Grinsell & Son, London 1904. Most of the features of this inkstand are visible in the pictures so there is no use in describing them. The clock (or watch) is housed in the lid of the central compartment, which was used for pins, nibs, or any other small desk items. All the detachable items are screwed to the sterling base, with nuts below. Every separate item is hallmarked.
Even the bun feet have the sterling lion. There is a tiny chip on the foot of one ink which is hidden when placed in the base.Slight usage scratches and tiny dents, commensurate with age. Otherwise all in very good condition. Dimensions: 235 mm x 152 mm x 88 mm high. Most items are antique and have signs of wear and tear. Such as light scratches, light dents, light pitting and discolouration.
