H the Prince of Wales was to become its honorary President for the Smithfields Club Centenary show in 1898 and having accepted, looked to design and commission a piece to mark his presidency for the 100 year celebration. This stunning and highly decorated piece was presented to a prominent Scottish Conservative & Unionist party politician who was made a Baronet in 1897 by Queen Victoria in her diamond jubilee year celebrations and was also the chairman of the party who's name was. SIR JOHN GILMOUR BART and who also served as Lieutenant Colonel to the Fife Light Horse Regiment. A one off and quite remarkable piece of silver, simply stunning!
