Sterling Silver Three Piece Tea Service by Joseph Angell II - Antique Victorian (1852). A fine, impressive and unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver three piece tea service by by Joseph Angell II; part of our silver teaware collection. The pieces of this unusual antique Victorian sterling silver three piece tea service have a pear shaped form onto four bracket style feet. The body of the teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl is ornamented with four large and four smaller shaped panels embellished with fine bright cut engraved Arabesque style decoration. This decoration incorporates a vacant scroll decorated cartouche to either side. Each piece of the silver tea service is fitted with an impressive hallmarked scrolling handle onamented with significant applied decoration. The teapot is fitted with a domed hallmarked hinged cover embellished with four bright cut engraved designs reflecting the style exhibited on the body. The cover retains the impressive original cast hallmarked sterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of a stemmed flower amist foliate decoration. Each piece of the silver tea service is fitted with an impressive scrolling handle ornamented with applied tiered decoration accented with a logenge shaped collar to each handpiece. The teapot is fitted with a chased decorated spout ornamented with applied decoration.

The cream jug and sugar bowl retain the original gilt interior. Each piece is supported by four large bracket style, acanthus leaf decorated feet. The pieces of this antique tea service are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. The chased decoration to each piece is very sharp and the bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece and part hallmarks struck to the cover, handle and finial of the tepot are very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine Victorian tea service. Height to top of finial 19cm/7.5. Diameter of body 14.7cm/5.75.
