SUPERB RARE VICTORIAN AUSTRIAN HUNGARIAN ALFRED POLLAK SOLID SILVER CHAMBERSTICK. This is a beautiful Rare and very special Victorian Austrian Hungarian Solid Silver Chamberstick, this very rare Chamberstick wwas crafted by the world renowned Austrian Hungarian (Imperial Court Supplier to Emperor Franz Joseph 1) silversmith Alfred Pollak, they were crafted in circa1900 making them 119 years old. The detailing as you would expect is superb, the chamberstick has the most beautifully cast and chased swag decoration to the stem of the chamberstick with so much beautiful detailing, to the base of the stem you will see a stunning cast laurel reef garland running aroung the bottom of the stem, this then sits upon a stunning square base tray with a smooth finish and chamfered corners which is turn raises up towards the stem of the chamberstick, the edging to the base has a wonderful reeded design and a delicate cross or kiss to each side, this has a wonderful handle that again is reeded and has an angular shape, to the top you will see it has a detachable scone that is framed with delicate bead work, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy Victorian family and would have sat proudly on any table, this would have been used daily to light there way to bed in the evening, in a time when things were so very different, hallmarked to the bottom and also to the body, this is an extremely rare form of Victorian Chamberstick and crafted by one of the finest Austrian Hungarian silversmiths of the 19th century and one you wont find very often on the market, this would look absolutely breath taking in any collection It is so very tactile and once picked up has the most wonderful feel, this will add something very special to any collection my photos dont do it justice. Alfred Pollak founded a silver factory of the same name in Bohemia in 1878 and was able, with his diligence and his expert knowledge, to quickly transform the initially small company into an important company. In 1892, the affiliation of a branch in Budapest and in 1896 the establishment of a branch in Vienna. His firm has also honored the reputation of the Austrian silverware industry abroad because, thanks to the multifarious nature and artful execution of its products, it has secured export to all the countries of the continent.
