This is a lovely and very heavy glass inkwell with silver overlay made by the celebrated William Comyns and hallmarked in London 1895. It is in very good condition with interesting and varied silver decorations to the body and lid. The lid closes fully and has very minor dings but hardly noticeable. Hallmarks are clear both to the body and lid and the glass has a cut decoration to the base. This is a heavy glass inkwell so much so that it could double as a paperweight.
Very good quality as you would expect from this highly collectible Victorian silversmith. The item "Stunning Victorian Antique Sterling Silver Inkwell Comyns 1895" is in sale since Saturday, September 30, 2017.
