Magnificent and very large / oversized Victorian sterling silver gilt wine cup, fully hallmarked for London 1883. This is a stunning quality and large silver gilt wine cup / goblet made by James Garrard / Garrard in 1883. The wine cup has superb chased decoration with bands of beading and chased leaves with berries. The centre of the goblet has a band of stars above chased leaves and flowers. The goblet stands on a spreading round pedestal base.The wine cup is large and heavy. It is 3-3/4 inches / 96 mm in diametre and it stands 5-1/4 inches / 134 mm high. Made of very thick gauge silver, the wine cup weighs an impressive 300 grams. The cup has clear hallmarks - lion passant, London mark, duty mark, letter H for 1883 and maker's mark JG (crowned) for James Garrard / Garrard.
The underside is also stamped Garrard, Panton Street, London. The goblet is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair. All items are well packed in brand new carton boxes and appropriate bubble wrap / tissue paper etc.
