Rare 1871 James & Josiah Williams Exeter Huge Silver, 1& 1/4 Pint Tankard. Lot 2

  

WELCOME TO MY LISTING OF THIS. VERY SOUGHT AFTER EXETER SOLID SILVER. PINT & A QUARTER TANKARD BY HIGHLY COLLECTED WESTCOUNTRY.

SILVERSMITHS WHO ARE JAMES & JOSIAH WILLIAMS. WITH FULL, CLEAR HALLMARKS FOR EXETER 1871. (See our other five Exeter silver tankards). This can only be described as rather rare being "A PINT & A QUARTER" with its wonderful. "S" scrolled sweeping handle capped with an acanthus leaf and beautifully beaded rim and circular stepped base.

WE HAVE PICTURED A PINT TANKARD NEXT TO IT FOR A COMPARISON, JUST LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE! It has a good weight of 367.5 grams and measures, 15 cm in height and 10.5 cm across the widest part of the body, not including the handle, with the handle it measures, app 15 cm.

Its condition is also very good, having several extremely fine. Marks and a small bruise that you would struggle to see when displayed, but these are insignificant compared to its rarity.

They are only mentioned for accuracy and are nothing more than. You would reasonably expect to see on a piece of this age and type.

After all this glorious piece is 147 years old. It bares what we think is a great inscription and a big part of its history reading, "Chepstow Farmers Club, 1871 Given by THE SORIETY for the best swedes, not less than 8 acres of a third class farm the cultivation of the whole root crop being taken into consideration awarded to Mr EDWARD BULL". All in all, a beautiful piece and very well priced. You never know what you might find! Please don't wait for a listing to finish hoping to get an item cheaper as it.
