BEAUTIFUL IMPRESSIVE EXTREMELY RARE FINE QUALITY VICTORIAN Hukin & Heath SOLID SILVER MOUNTED HORN INKSTAND & CRYSTAL GLASS INKWELL. This is a Beautiful & Impressive very fine quality Extremely Rare Solid Silver Mounted Horn Inkstand & Crystal Glass Inkwell, this rare Inkstand was crafted by one of the finest Victorian Silversmiths Hukin & Heath who were renowned for crafting designs by Christopher Dresser, Hukin & Heath also had silver wares executed to Dresser designs which were hallmarked in London as you can see this amazing rare Inkstand & Inkwell were Assayed in London in 1900 making it nearly 120 years old, im not 100% certain if this is a Christopher Dresser design as t. He firm's design books were destroyed before it closed down in 1953. Though it is highly likely that this is actually a Christopher Dresser Design. The quality is stunning as you would expect and the design and decoration is breath taking, as you can see the base itself has the most wonderful impressive horns to each side of the inkstand which have then been mounted to each end in solid silver, the centre of the inkstand has been crafted in solid silver with a square shape base that has embossed gadroon decoration contrasting wonderfully against the smooth finish of the body, the side are raised which in turn have the most wonderful scalloped edging, the inkwell itself is heavy and of a fine quality with a facet cut crystal glass body and mounted with a solid silver hinged top thats has matching decoration to the base, the inkwell itself sits snugly within the base, the hinge to the inkwell lid works very well indeed, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, as you would expect being crafted by such fine Victorian silversmiths Hukin & Heath, this is hallmarked in so many place, the tips of the horn, the collar of the inkwell, inside the inkwell and also to the square base, its absolutely breath taking, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy Victorian Gentleman and sat proudly on his writing desk ready to be used, this was in a time when letters were written daily, this was many many years ago when times were so very different, if this Inkwell could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel.

It is of a large size and very heavy. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. Please study the photos as this is an extremely rare.
