This is a very beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Eggcup from late 19th Century by renown Parisian silversmith Cailar & Bayard, with gorgeous Rococo style embossed decoration. It's as classically French as it gets - a very beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Eggcup by renown Parisian master silversmith Cailar & Bayard.

This eggcup is wholly made of the finest quality French sterling silver. The decoration is classical Rococo style rocaille scallop borders on flute spiral body.

It stands on round pedestal foot embellished with matching scallop border flared and slightly spiralled downward beautifully. Cailar & Bayard , the company was founded in 1848 by Noël Cailar, a metal merchant, and Pierre Bayard, a silversmith working for the Maison Thouret. In 1874 it became a shareholder-owned company, and in 1875 all of their small workshops were united in one vast factory complex at 37 and 39 rue Grange-aux-Belles, near the canal Saint-Martin in Paris' 10th arrondissement. They are renown for their superior quality sterling silver and metalware.
