BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN Gustav Wenning SOLID SILVER GUILLOCHE ENAMEL SNUFF BOX
BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER GUILLOCHE ENAMEL SNUFF BOX. This is a Beautiful very fine quality Victorian Solid Silver Pale Blue almost mint blue Guilloche Enamel Circular Snuff Box, this stunning box was crafted by the highly sought after Silversmith Gustav Wenning. The grade of the silver is 935, it was crafted in Germany i would estimate dates to circa 1870 making it nearly 150 years old, this has been crafted beautifully, the quality is stunning and the decoration is breath taking, the circular shape hinged top has been crafted in a breath taking Pale Blue guilloche enamel ground creating a honey comb design which shimmers in the light, this is framed beautifully with a white enamel and silver border. This lovely snuff box has got the most wonderful engine turned decoration to the body making the pale blue Guilloche sparkle and shimmer when it catches the light, this is also framed to the top and bottom with a white enamel border, on opening this wonderful Box you will see it still retains its original gilt finish, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy 19th Century Lady or gentleman and sat proudly on the table top ready to be used, this was many many years ago when times were so very different, if this snuff box could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this snuff box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel.
This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. Please study the photos its so extremely rare. The condition is wonderful with just three small loses to the body, thats being said it doesnt detract at all from its beauty, just mentioned for accuracy. My photos dont do it justice.
