Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Canteen of Cutlery for 12 Persons - 84 Pieces. The pieces of this exceptional antique Victorian English sterling silver flatware service for twelve persons are crafted in the Old English pattern. The anterior surface of each fork handle and the reverse surface of each spoon handle features a pip to the terminal. This Victorian flatware service consists of 84 pieces. The fundamental pieces of flatware have been crafted by the London silversmith Charles Boyton II in 1888, apart from six antique dessert spoons and the table and dessert knives, which are replacements.

This impressive canteen of cutlery is fitted to the original, fine and impressive chest style mahogony lift up lid and well, one draw canteen box; this box is an impressive piece of furniture in its own right. The box features a brass drawer handle and a plain rectangular vacant cartouche to the upper surface, in addition to decorative brass strap designs to each corner.

The interior of each drawer/compartment has been refitted with navy velvet replicating the same appearance as the original covering. Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.

This antique Victorian flatware set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presetnation condition in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
