An incredible and substantial antique, late Victorian era sterling silver chatelaine. Attractive cut out scrolling solid silver clip, it has 6 long length silver chains loaded with sewing tools and each affixed with hallmarked silver dog clips. Each piece is individually hallmarked and have a beautiful floral design, the propelling pencil is a replacement, Wrythen pattern by Sampson Mordan and Co, marked on the slider and hallmarked. It has a number of different tools; pincushion, a scissor case, a pencil, a tape measure winder and a thimble bucket. Beautifully executed piece with original accessories, it is a longer length, designed to be worn at the hip, hung from a sash or belt.The thimble bucket is lined with a deep purple velvet, the pin cushion has the same velvet base, there is no tape measure within the winder at present. It is a substantial and heavy piece of antique silver, expertly designed with great attention to detail. The clip is hallmarked for London 1900, maker John Tiley, the tools are hallmarked for Birmingham 1900, maker Lawrence Emmanuel, dog clips each marked for London maker SS, the pencil is from the same era, marks rubbed, Sampson Mordan and Co. Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light all over patina, does not contain scissors, thimble or measure tape, the silver on the pincushion is slightly bent and detached from the cushion, the pencil within the propelling pencil will need replacing. 1 diameter tape measure winder. 2.5 length scissors case.
