Eight sections comprising of elaborate hand engraved panels detailing scrolls, fauna & flora with chased floral bouquet. Two panels with cartouche, one with lion crest, the other with floral scroll. The lid is encased with four scroll formed risers with engraved detail to lid perimeter to finalise with a bud finial, lid assayed to inside with finial bud also hallmarked. The handle is secured by two elaborate ferrules with ivory insulators. The handle has thumb rest to top with partial engraving detail & assay marks near connection.

Spout connect complimenting scroll detail to lid with partial engraving. The teapot sits on an elaborate base with four scroll feet, teapot assayed to base with a full set of London assay marks. Antique Sterling Silver Victorian Teapot Benjamin Preston 1844. Weight: 680 grams 21.86 Troy Ounces. Height: 170 mm (17.0 cm). Body Diameter: 140 mm (14.0 cm). Handle Spout: 250 mm (25.0 cm). Engraving is rubbed to surface from polishing with some engraving definition light in places. Light surface marks to body as expected. Small marks to corners of octagonal sections of the teapot body, small shallow indent to top of handle, of little detriment. Teapot lid has a little play, sits tight in rebate with hinge pin secure, lid assay marks clear. Handle tight in ferrules with pins & ivory insulators secure, assay marks to handle clear & legible. Base feet sit flat & level to the teapot with assay marks clear & decipherable. The teapot is showing all without repair.
