An interesting & scarce antique cigar case. Made in solid Sterling silver it is hallmarked for Birmingham 1893 by makers Horton & Allday. The front is engraved with Queen Victoria's crown & monogram with the date 1896. Inside the case is the retailers name Carrington & Co, Regent Street London.
This case was given as a gift by Queen Victoria in 1896, probably to a high ranking servant or worker of the Royal household. The case measures 12cm x 8cm, it has a curved body & gilt interior.
