For your consideration is this Hard to Find, Rare Set of Six Antique Victorian Silver Spiders in Fine Web Hair Ornaments / Place Card Holders. The wearing of spider web hair ornaments originated in China during the 17th century (Ming period or later). They were worn by women of the ruling elite as part of their traditional hair styles. They were also popular during the Victorian era and are more commonly used to adorn the dinner table as place card holders. Each of these lovely and highly detail spider webs is handcrafted of silver with no two exactly alike. The webs are delicately woven of twisted silver wire with a large belly spider attached at the center. The webs are unbranded with no markings found. Each web measures approximately 2 inches across with a total weight of all six being 27.02 grams. They are design with two hinged legs for standing upright and to two wire clamps for card placement. This set is in very good working condition with no breaks or missing pieces and with a nice aged patina. These unique spider web pieces are very collectible and can be re-purposed in a variety of ways name cards, photos, tree ornaments, etc. Or just displayed as is!
